Our Fund's First Opportunity To Fight!

With the funds raised in our first Golf Outing we provided support to Drs. Eric Barker and Val Watts in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at the Purdue University School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

This pilot project is designed to develop a new process to identify drugs that could potentially treat NPC.  A fundamental problem in NPC is an inability of cells to use cholesterol properly.

Drs. Barker and Watts are developing a novel method of identifying compounds that restore normal cholesterol metabolism.  It is their hope to develop this assay and use it for drug screening.
